Fforde 2006 Charity Auction

The actual eggwhisk
'The actual Eggwhisk' as featured on the postcards and is a genuine prop used on the writing of 'The Big Over Easy'

This year's charity auction will be different in a couple of ways.

Firstly, it will be thorugh eBay, so if you don't have an account, get one for free by clicking HERE. You don't need a PayPal account as I will be asking winners to send a cheque.

Secondly, we will be selling multiples of the same item on a 'rolling finish' on eBay so if you don't get one there is a possibility of an identical item five minutes later. We also found out last year that a few people with very fat wallets were taking everything, so this is to try and stop that.

Lots on auction so far:

Hodder and Stoughton changed floors recently and had to throw out everything that wasn't absolutely necessary. A treasure trove of forgotten Ffordes came to light, which I am passing on as auction lots.

1st edition softback uppercase signed The Eyre Affair. I don't sign in uppercase anymore, so this is pretty much the only way to get hold of some. These had been lying at Hodder since 2001 possibly as giveaways that didn't get given away. There will be 20 of these for sale on a no reserve auction - starting price of £10.

In this treasure trove we also discovered fifteen early 'curly cover small print' TN2 proofs. Again, no reserve, starting price of £10.

TN4 proofs found in the same place. Ten of these are up for grabs. Again, no reserve, starting price of £10.

TN1 kaleidoscops. These rare promotional items also came to light and I found myself suddenly kaleidoscop-rich. Five available, no reserve, starting bid £20.

The Actual Egg Whisk, from the postcard. This is a standard eggwhisk that was vandalized by me and appears in the end of 'The Big Over Easy'. (a better description I won't be giving as it is a bit of a spoiler for TBOE. Mounted on a bit of oak, with certificate of authenticity. No reserve, starting price £50.

UK Hardback 'Royal' edition of The Eyre Affair with my usual 'J.M.Fforde' signature - the one I've never done in a book. No reserve, starting price £100.

UK Hardback 'Royal' edition of Lost in a Good Book with my usual 'J.M.Fforde' signature - the one I've never done in a book. No reserve, starting price £100.

I have a box od fthem but rather thaAS well as the TN1s we also have Welcome to the auction introduction page which is really to loosely gather all the auctions we've done over the years and let you know what will be next. As you can see the Tsunami chairty auction raised an astonishing £7980, exceeding our wildest expectations. So many many thanks for your generosity! My thanks also to Mari who undertook the huge amount of work to field all the bids and package up the artifacts. Myself, I just supplied the bits and bobs.
