When visiting Iran recently, I was aware of the strict limitations on Western literature. Having just received my newly published copy of First Among Sequels one hour before departing from the airport, I decided to trust that - while replete with references to western literature - First Among Sequels would not constitute the 'offensive' literature that is prohibited in the country. Thankfully this turned out to be correct.
So, having strolled around Isfehan for a few hours, sweltering in my hijab and manto in forty-five degree heat, I decided to take a moment to catch up on the latest doings of Ms Next-Parke Laine while outside the Palace of Forty Columns. Perhaps the adventures of Thursday will one day reach the number of 1001 stories told by Sherezade in the ancient literature...
