Right, either I'm really, really dense, or somehing strange is happening - I can't get beyond the bloody crossword.... And before you ask, yes I have solved it to get the password - it's entering the password I can't do...

Did you enter it in ALL CAPS? Doesn't work otherwise.

And don't put a space in between the words... it took me a while to figure that bit out.

HAH! Think I'm going to give you the answer after all my hard work???!!!!

I'm now beyond that, and have even survived the handicap of the world's least accurate Arthur Conan Doyle biog - it starts "The creator of Sherlock Holmes was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in the general global vicinity of his Primary Transcendental"... and continues in a similar neo-hippy claptrap vein for several dense pages, none of which are useful.

Lol, sounds terrible. I've actually completed the whole thing, only I can't enter cos I live on the wrong side of the pond. <sigh>

So, I'm not after your answers. Honest.

Well why ask then? lol...

And I'd be doing a lot better with the damned dodo if I wasn't convinced it was running and therefore not walking into the forest.

I would stop this nonsense now, but I refuse to stop halfway through.

Actually, in this case I believe that's just one word.

I was asking in case I could be some help. I'm nice like that.

As for the dodo, it doesn't matter whether it's walking or running. Though Mildred says that dodos always go that fast. And she should know.

This one needs to be one word as well, not two. Took me ages to figure out that bit...

Jon, sometimes you have so little faith...

I'm already way beyond, although I have no idea why some of them were odd.

{blubbers....}
I've only just spotted the crossword thingy, now I'm going to be spending all night trying to work it out {sigh}
And seeing as I'm stuck on the first clue, I don't think that its going to be a quick evening...
Just one question - are the spaces in the picture crossword the right amount for the answer?

Jo, yes they are. If I were you I'd just focus on the clues that go through 3 down. Then once you've done the whole thing and entered the competitong you can go back and finish the crosswrd and the word ladder and such...

Or you can apply the PSD technique:

1: Misread the numbers due to squinting at them rather than moving closer
2: Realise that at least one of the 8 downs must be three down.
3: Complete clues overlapping with 3 down.
4: Enter answer
5: Receive incorrect message
6: Re-enter answer with space
7: See 5
8: Refer to Fforum
9: Bang head on desk
10: Repeat 9

I do that one every time I try to do anything with my computer. I've just had to stop my printer talking to my computer in order to get anything printed out (my printer kept telling the computer that there was no paper in it - as soon as the computer was allowed to ignore the printer, it happily printed out everything I wanted {sigh})
