"Erstwhile" has a nice Dickensian ring and fits surreally with her surname.

thursday evening next does sound good.
but on a more practical note, it could be her dad's name. he's referred to as "Colonel Next", but do we know for absolute sure that was his last name? Wednesday might have not changed her name, and possibly not knowing what his last name was (since he was eradicated), named her child Next.
