Sewsew, you are not the only one! After reading this thread and learning about some sort of mutant earthworm, I grew increasingly suspicious and grabbed my copy to check.
I don't have chapter 13 as well!! I feel cheated...missing such a supposedly crucial and amusing portion of the story.
Is there anyway to read it? I don't believe my book supplier has TBOE in any edition other than American.
I was under the impression he didn't put them in, All the Thursday Next series were missing them to, I think we went over that in one of the other forums as well, thats a bummer, I want to read that..how tragic.

Ummm.. I just finished this book for a book report and I have no chapter thirteen. Would someone mind bringing me up to date on it? I might need it. Thanks.
To be a little more specific, no, there's no Chapter 13 in any of Fforde's books. He always lists it in the table of contents, but the page number is simply the page before the start of Chapter 14.
And there may or may not be some hidden secret behind the names of the 'chapter 13's. But we're not sure.

That statement is either so deep it would take a lifetime to fully comprehend every particle of its meaning, or it is a load of absolute tosh. Which is it, I wonder?
Terry Pratchett, Hogfather
> it's a tradtion to raise ur feet from the floor
> when a cricket is facing the bowler when he is on
> 13 and not put down untill the batsman has scored
But a different tradition in England where a score of 111 (team or individual) prompts a similar course of action.
