Right to Arm Bears

Felt it only fair to note that the phrase "The Right to Arm Bears" was first exposed to the public as the title of a book published in 2001 by Baen Books, and authored by Gordon Dickson.

Book is an omnibus collection of Dickson's tales of Human-Dilbian interaction (the Dilbians being 9 foot tall ursinoids, dwellers on the planet Dilbia) originally published as SPACIAL DELIVERY, SPACE PAW and THE LAW TWISTER SHORTY (the Dilbians call humans "Shorties").

Oh golly, I think the gag has been around at least as far back as 1789...
I bet when the 2nd Amendment was being written some guy in a powdered wig was giggling over arming bears.

The gag may be old, but I'm all for giving credit to Ms. Stodart of Cape Town who told it to Jasper.

Why can't we arm the Venus de Milo? Tell me that. Go on, tell me.
She has only lost some of her marble.

I will go now.

I first heard it on a Robin williams live show, at the Met. Not that I was actually there. There was televisual recording device present.

Totally agree with you there.

OK, it's not the best design you might have encountered, but you can get a t-shirt:

Interesting to note, Prinz, that my Dept of Education computer won't let me access that site and had the message "Blocked... Category: Weapons".

I've seen some offensive T-Shirts, but none that I'd actually call a 'weapon'.
(unless, perhaps, you got it wet, twisted it and flicked someone on the backside with it; perhaps that what the NSW custodians of morality are worried about.)

They also sell CDs and...(drum roll)...BOOKS on that site. These are weapons all right.
