Does Jasper Fforde have little kids? I suspect he asks a 3 or 4 year old when he can't think of a name...

Crumpety Tree
Quangle Wangle
Jelly Man

Also, you have to be a parent to know nursery rhymes as well as he does.

Hi there! I don't believe Jasper has kids (though I envy any kids he might have in the future! Maybe he'll adopt me…) but he got the first two names you mentioned from the poem that is mentioned in the book (whose title I can't think of because I don't have the book with me). He claims to have made up the Jelly Man.

Well, I got my answer from the man himself. Quangle-Wangle and Crumpety-Tree are from Edward Lear, which I should have known. I just wasn't familiar with that particular poem.

I hope he has kids, if not now, then some day. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at some of the dinner table conversations in his house. I imagine much raucous laughter when he comes up with names like Giorgio Porgia.

It always seemed obvious to me that since jelly babies have been around since 1919, at least a few would survive to grow up to be jelly men and women...........

Jasper does have kids. As far as I'm aware, he has not mentioned their names.

He does seem to keep his personal life very private. He never says so explicitly, but the most he seems to do is mention Mari once in a while.

I think an author should keep his private life quiet. They're not celebs and for me I dislike it when they join the cleleb circus. I hope he'll never apear in Ok or Hello.

Oh my God! He's not Welsh is he?

You're about as punk as Enya!

Well, I think it's often not the celebrity's choice to become one--it's a matter of how much the public wants to know about them. Of course, they can choose how much information to give out. But I would say that a lot of authors have a certain amount of celebrity, just not as much as movie stars and singers.

They are pretty cool names, even though you really don't have to be a parent to know nursery rhymes that well. I'm not, and I do.

I suppose being an oversized 5 year old helps,... ;)

In the back of First Among Sequels he says he has a teenage son, @#$%&.

Maybe that's who comes up with the names. </doubts it>

Yes, he has mentioned his son several times as the inspiration for the teenage Friday.
