Identify any characters?

I always try to make a little game of figuring out who the unnamed characters are in Thursday books.

The red-haired gentleman is surely the culprit from The Murders on the Rue Morgue, and Bradshaw's aide can only be Holden Caulfield (notice he uses "goddam" instead of "goddamned").

Nice to see some American characters in there. :)

I've been trying to put my finger on the cabbie, but I can't think of any famous literary anteaters.

Actually one of the questions of the sleuthing competition was exactly on such an identification. The competition closed a few hours after your post.
