Deliverez-moi!

Spent last week in France and all French bookshops looking for a copy of the French translation to no avail. One bookshop owner told me in a very sniffy tone "I have never heard of him or his book." Not going back there then. Others were very helpful.

Finally found a copy in the supermarket.

Irma Cohen has become Celia Lutz. Can anyone tell me why?

Hmm... apparently the name 'Irma Cohen' is an unlikely coincidence created by Aornis (and JFf) so that 'Irma Cohen, Kaylieu' sounds vaguely like 'I'm gonna kill you' (see page 45 on [www.jasperfforde.com].) So does 'Celia Lutz' or 'Celia Lutz Kaylieu' vaguely sound like anything threatening in French?

That statement is either so deep it would take a lifetime to fully comprehend every particle of its meaning, or it is a load of absolute tosh. Which is it, I wonder?

Not remotely. But Kaylieu became "Finnhal", so it's "Celia Lutz, Finnhal..."
*sings* C'est la luuuutte finaaale !

... Ahem.

It's a communist song, "L'internationale" - don't know if it exists in English, but would translate as "it's the final struggle", like.

Very good translations, one day I'll have to try ans read them... Should be easier than the English version, as I'm French...

D., trying to remember the last book she'd read in French...

You can be sure it exists in any language where a communist or socialist party exists. This is really a nice idea for the translation! Who does them?

Her name is Roxane Azimi, IIRC. A shy woman, or so it seemed to me last time I saw her... (wich was the second time only, so I'm not sure.)
