It's about time...

...for a new topic.

How many of you get people who send e-mails like that? With the subject being the first part of the e-mail? It annoys the hell outta me.

Anyway, this was supposed to be a TEA post, so...

Where *is* the Church at Capel-y-ffin?

Anyone like to hazard a guess? My research made it the smallest church in Wales. They've got pictures. Sweet really.

Extensive research by me, Charles and PSD came up with the same result. We reckon *someone* lives not too far away. Dunno why it's in the chapter list, though. And we haven't got a clue about Mount Pleasant.

Bonza.

We've got a Mount Pleasant where I live, but I doubt that's the one he means...

There's a Mount Pleasant pub in Plymouth, if that's any help.

Which it isn't.

And the Royal Mail has a Mount Pleasant post-sorting centre, somewhere in England, if I remember correctly...

What we're really looking for is a connection between Mount Pleasant (the one in question I presume is in Wales), the tiniest chapel in the UK and the Church of St Stephen (See WOLP).

Any ideas anyone?

Extensive net searching brings me this information:

Here's the church in the village, although it's called St Mary's, I think.

This may be relevant... or not.

St Stephen's Church at Bodfari in Wales.

The smallest chapel in Wales is on the promenade in Rhos-on-Sea - this may be what we're looking for. Scroll almost to the bottom on this page.

The plot thickens...

By the way, has anyone got an official word from Jasper on this?

Would this not be the monastery where Eric Gill, Arts & Crafts designer and creater of the Gill Sans typeface (as used extensively by the BBC in their graphics), set up one of his religious communities? Gill would be an interesting Nextian character, as he was a socialist/commune dweller/religious zealot type, very contradictory in many aspects of his personality yet with a wonderful artistic legacy.

My apologies if this is all redundant. I am one of those "newbies" just becoming enthralled with the TN saga. An American too, sorry for that... :)

After a bit of research turned up a village upstream from Hay called Llanstephan Saint Stephens church - it could be possible candidate.

Hi sirinrob! Welcome to the Fforum! The book-specific forums tend to go silent after a while and we're much more active in the main Nextian Chat forum. Come and introduce yourself!
