L'Affaire Jane Eyre

Picked up the French edition last week whilst on a long weekend in Picardy/Somme area of France. Haven't had time to really sit down and read it properly but looked immediately for name puns etc. Thursday is still Thursday, Landen Parke-Laine is still Landen Parke-Laine, Mycroft and Polly etc etc.

But - very clever translating - Jack Schitt becomes Jack Mairde.

Go on - say it out loud. Had me laughing outloud in the bookshop to the general amazement of the other occupants!

Just finished it! A labour of love if ever there was one. I admit I had to cheat a couple of times and open the English version to compare when I was not sure what I had just read.

Can't wait to try the next ones when they're published.

I bought it in June, but haven't yet had the chance to start it (I've got a stack this high...) However I did notice that there were a considerably larger amount of footnotes, including an explination of Thursday's name (Jeudi Prochain! Giggle!)
