G'day,

Just beginning to read the books. As I've carried the nickname of The Wombat for a few decades, I was amused to find The Society of Wombats in the novel.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this devlops.

Marsupials are the most!

Wombats Rule!

haha .. ever been to australia?
the google definition of wombat is 'burrowing herbivorous Australian marsupials about the size of a badger'
there's more information and a picture at [en.wikipedia.org]
do they not have wombats in zoos outside australia??

Badger? What's a badger? I've never seen one in a zoo in Australia.
Who said, "We don't need no steenkin' badgers"?

I read that the sleepy dormouse at the mad teaparty in Alice in Wonderland was inspired by a pet wombat that belonged to one of Lewis Carroll's friends. Apparently, the guy was in the habit of allowing his wombat to sleep on the table. (I think this is maybe sort of relevant... we were on the subject of wombats...on second thought, don't mind me I'm half asleep myself...)
