Hello SkidMarks,

Thank you for that warm welcome. (Though I donīt like kirschtorte that much. :D)

Youīre right, Iīm from Germany.

Should I introduce myself somewhere, or just continue posting messages?

By all means post away!

There is a thread in Nextian Chat labelled "Intros Again?" where you may want to tell us about yourself. There is also general mayhem in Nextian, so go carefully.....

I have read Jane Eyre, but years ago. Donkey's ages in fact, which is why reading TEA was so much ffun. I couldn't figure out why the first ending sounded so strange! I'm sure JF was counting on as much with us "Baby Boomers".

I think Jane Eyre was a bit before even your time…

Welcome to the Fforum!

Herzlich willkommen PMT - glad to see atleast one other German-speaker shares my view about the translation, especially that of Eyre Affair.

Greetings all, first posting!

I haven't read 'Jane Eyre' so when Thursday finds a handkerchief with 'EFR' embroidered on it I wondered what Eric Frank Russell was doing with the story.

Having a thorough grounding in Pratchett, Rankin, R (not I), and Holt and given the nature of the book I didn't find this thought inconsistent, and was slightly let down when the real EFR was identified.

A cautious welcome to you, Bunyip. (Cautious only since your name is so close to the dreaded "B" word).

Please help yourself to pie. The Sweet can be identified by the large pastry "S" on them. The savoury are labelled with their initial letter. Try to avoid the Game Pie as it could be construed as cannibalism.

Although not to my taste, others have suggested that reading Jane Eyre even after TEA is worthwhile. Certainly, knowing the plot and characters is a help - and you can get those from the various revision guides, not that I would suggest cheating.
