Hi, I'm a newbie here. And a new convert to Jasper Ffordes books. I've just finished The Eyre Affair and just started Lost in a Good Book.

If I was honest I picked up the first book as the author I usually read hasn't a new book out for a few more months, and I hate re reading anything. So I thought I'd try someone new. And love it :)

So, just thought I'd introduce myself, and I'll go back to checking out your forum to see what's hot and what's not at the moment around here. lol

Hi Tricia. Make yourself at home and help yourself to refreshments.

Please do not feed the natives unless you have a surfeit of fingers.

Who is your fave author who has so cruelly driven you to this asylum?

Thanks for the welcome :)

Robert Rankin is the man, his latest book was supposed to be released in July, and I was all geared up for it, and his publishers decided that because it's his 30th book they want a big book signing tour arranged for January, after the delayed release in December. The up side is, my town is on his list, so I'll get to meet the man, and get a signed book. :)

His fan forum members are equally stra... erm, I mean friendly :D So I know the form.

He-He as a fellow Sproutlorean (but not active on their forum) I know what you mean.

(The new book is very good, by the way -the joys of an ARC- don'tyaknow!)

What a torment that you've read it :(

Still, I've now got a whole new set of books to discover before January. Which I'm more than happy about.

You should come visit Sporoutlore land again, it's quite lively there at the moment, they're all buzzing from the Zombiecon, and there's new and old popping in, that have met up there.

I've read hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, and it's definitely the mice that are the overlords!

Rule 5: no thread can remain on topic.

Re: Rule 2

Hmmmmmm.

Anyway, going off topic is what I'm used to :)

MartinB, I had that quote for a signature once :) must go seach for something to use on here.

*trots off to Google*

I find it wonderfully appropriate here. ;)

If you want to use it, feel free. I am planning on changing it soonish anyway.

Welcome Massk.

While there may be some dispute as to who is ruling the universe this week it should be noted that all threads eventually come to chocolate.

As an aside, at the Royal Show in Adelaide last week I noticed an entry in the handmade jams section by one 'Robert Rankin'. It was not sprout jam.

Hi Massk,

Wow, I miss the Adelaide show, (I live in Melbourne and their show isn't half as good - oh ok they are all same but more of my pals to go to RAS with makes the difference). Why are they all still called "Royal" though - oh yeah the whole monarchy thing is stiiiiiill in place huh?

They are still call ed the 'Royal' as the thought of them being called 'The Republican Agricultural and Horticultural Show' is ludicrous.

Especially if our small minded federal politicians who are only interested in self aggrandisement get in the act. Just think: The John Howard Memorial Show for the improvement of conditions in the country' or the 'Kevin Rudd show for the ........' [enter own concept] [as in the Mikado: it doesn't really matter whom you place upon the list, they'll none of them be missed.']

the main use of royalty is to fill the top social positions and the titular head of function positions so that we are freed of the frantic struggle that occurs in the republics of the struggle of the mediocre to be king rat.

Wow, thanks for the example of how things go off topic, lol. From intro, to mice ruling the world, to monarchy in 14 posts.

Not forgetting the seemingly manatory cake references.

I'm understanding you all a lot better now. :D

Hmm, I haven't got around to finding a signature yet. Must get that fixed.

I like Tommy Cooper's Whiskey diet quote and am quite fond of "Trees break wind"

Who is Tommy Cooper?

Tommy Cooper was one of the funniest men who ever walked the planet. He was a comic magician whose tricks never worked, and was the same in real life as his stage persona. Sadly missed

As is his fez...

Possibly the last of the great comedians.
