Bloody amazing, isn't it!


Last episode of Dr Who and I get as far as the crew all being inside the Dalek's machine, the planets are about to line up and the bloody 'phone rings with a matter that takes me to 11pm to get settled.


Now I have to wait for repeats in twelve months or so to find out what happened and how. I just managed to get a break long enough to see/hear Bernard Cribbens say; "What about you Dr?" and Tennant walked back to the Tardis. Run credits. And I missed the Dr Who Confidential which would have given me some insight.

We won a DVD/VCR player in a raffle yesterday and the one at home was taping 'Who Do You think You Are?'/ James May's 20th Century so I didn't even tape it.

You didn't mess much, only the part where the Daleks were defeated by atomic custard.

Don't forget the interference from the Replicators! That was crucial to the storyline.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the Replicators, and their influence on the misalignment.

No, that was both Romanas, but superimposed.

Who are the Romanas? I confess, I was a bit preoccupied while the last series was aired.
(I only saw one or two episodes, I think...)

The Romanas were Time Ladies, companions to the fourth Doctor in the original run. Being Time Ladies a cast change was allowed for by a convenient regeneration.

Not having seen them: did the 'Time Ladies' have a pub as a Tardis?

The only recall of 'Time Ladies' was when the barman was trying to close the lounge and there was a strong resistance to his efforts.

That was the scene they were introduced in, yes.

I seem to recall that Romana went through a few different regenerations (like trying on new shoes- I guess the restrictions don't apply to the TimeLadies) before settling on Lalla, who'd already guest starred in another ep.

Tremendous luck, being able to marry someone with pockets full of jelly babies.

Yes, Romanadvoratrelundar (show-off) was played by Mary Tamm, then Lalla Ward.

As an aside (1) Lalla ward later married Richard Dawkins
As an aside (2) I think that Patrick Troughton was the first "Jelly Baby" doctor and Sylvester McCoy the most recent. I vaguely remember that the Jelly Babies were sometimes ther sweets, but always offered as "Jelly Babies".

Speaking of Jell babies, did anyone catch 'Who do you think you are' tonight (Sunday 12 Oct in OZ) as the person seeking enlightenment was one David Tennant?
