Tried that- doesn't really work very well, because of angles and stuff, plus, I dont have a podium or anything to rest the book on.

You mean you don't have a glamorous, be-sequinned assistant?

Or a podium?

Alas, no. It's impossible to get good help these days.

Get a camera obscura, project the image and copy it by scribing. Then copy it.

This will keep you off the streets and free from unwholesome influences.

Is the plural of podium: podia or podiums?

Or do they become something else when there's more than one of them?

If I delete all my cookies, does that mean eating a whole packet of chocolate crunch creams to myself won't make me fat?

Damn. Didn't read the latest posts. Back on topic. Sorry, guys.

I thought "deleting your cookies" was computer nerd slang for throwing up.

Reverting to the topic of biscuits vs cookies and the effects of staleness my wife pointed out that biscuits, cookies, cakes, and anything else with a modicum of being a non essential food never gets a long enough life in this house to go stale.

She said that she had bought a cake at the Cheesecake shop and by the time she got home a slice had disappeared.

Yes.

(I prefer "podiums", but that could be more to do with my girth than any linguistig shennanigans.)

Podia sounds as if it is related to feet.

I think if you're still bothering to slice it first you're probably still on the right side of civilisation.

When does a collection of podiums become a stage?

They can be quite becoming when draped with flowers and such, so I'd say then.

When they start to carry passengers.

How many horses does it take to pull a stagepodia?

Whoa! Hang about - before we commit ourselves to buying horses, what if some of the podia are rostra? And I shudder at the thought that some of them may be converted lecterns. There's a recession on you know!

Ah, and then you have to think about the lecterns reading the horses improving passages from the bible - you know what converts are like - which could have seriously detrimental effects on the podia's speed. Personally I'd dump the rostra and take the podia on a world tour. After all there's nothing like a good travelling stage show to cheer people up in a depression and bring in the moolah, and yep, this would be nothing like a good stage show...
