The strangest part of that story is that someone credits the CIA with being able to organise such a thing that comes under the loose definition of a 'plan'.

It was an unsuccessful plan, a series of unsuccessful plans, so am quite willing to believe in involvement of CIA.

As much as I don't like dictators I applaud young Fidel and his crew for maintaining an existence independent of the US.
Cub astnds as an example of a nonUS cultural dominated place. I wish we had as much domestic cultural independence in OZ.
