A FOOLish new look at Lear...

If you're getting impatient waiting for the Next Ffordian adventure
& want something new to read, look no further...

Today they release Christopher Moore's new book- FOOL!

It's Moore's take on King Lear except he's turned a tragedy into a comedy as only he can-
I found his take on the characters more realistic than the Bard's, but you don't have to take my word for it...

WARNING:
"This is a bawdy tale. Herein you will find gratuitous shagging, murder, spanking, maiming, treason, and heretofore unexplored heights of vulgarity and profanity, as well as non-traditional grammar, spit infinitives, and the odd wank. If that sort of thing bothers you, then gentle reader pass by, for we only endeavor to entertain, not to offend. That said, if that’s the sort of thing you think you might enjoy, then you have happened onto the perfect story!"

All of this & Mo(o)re can be found on the website:

I'll be going to the signing in Decatur in a couple of weeks & I'm so glad he's touring the South again-
if you're in the States within driving distance of one of the cities, you should treat yourself to the MOORE experience...

Happy reading!

I can't wait to get my copy. I can't find a release date for the U.K. yet, so I may end up buying it from the U.S.A.

I expect that there are quite a few of us who are fans of both authors (on both forums).

Yep,they attract they same kind of readers- intelligent, loyal & slightly crazed bookworms!

While you're waiting for your copy, you might enjoy watching this:

They taped that a couple of weeks ago but just released the footage- hopefully, it will load properly-
I haven't watched it yet but I've been told there are pauses & a few small spoilers...

Don't worry, as soon as Mr. Fforde's next masterpiece is released,
I'll be posting about it in the boardello unless somebody beats me to it...

I must head back there.

I have been watching the demise of Sproutlore and the birth of TOOTGS (if Mr. Fforde doesn't mind me mentioning those sites!) and so have not been back to the Boardello for quite some time.

I know of sproutlore, am vaguely aware of the boardello, and am an irregular afper... but what's TOOTGS?

------
That statement is either so deep it would take a lifetime to fully comprehend every particle of its meaning, or it is a load of absolute tosh. Which is it, I wonder?

it is the shiny new site for the RR fanclub - The Order of the Golden Sprout. Sproutlore is no more.

Hmmm, does one of those R's stand for Rankin?
I have one of his books in my latest library stack, it told me to take it home this time...

You know, book junkies gotta look out for each other...

I'm impatiently waiting for Monday's book signing-
our local bookstore didn't have audio or print copies of FOOL
& I've heard of shortages in other stores as well, fools didn't order enough copies...

BTW, Taco Bob will also be attending this signing (look in the front of THE STUPIDEST ANGEL- he's the source for Chapter 16)...

Alright, I haven't read Chris Moore before but I gave Fool a try. Pretty good!

I think FOOL has the potential to become another LAMB in terms of critical acclaim- no FOOLin'!
I just wish the bookstores would stock more copies-
I wasn't able to find an audio copy until yesterday & now I'll have to wait til my husband isn't sleeping to listen to it...

Well, I finally attended the signing & got my signed copies of FOOL (a couple are for friends)-
plus a signed FOOL hat, a signed copy of ANOINTED by Zachary Steele (the bookstore owner)
& copy of KEY LUCKY by the boardello's own Taco Bob, who also joined us for a delicious dinner of pizza & key lime pie...

More about the event here:
[bbs.chrismoore.com]

Pics near the end of that thread, news about the rest of the tour's events are scattered in that section of the board-
just in case you have more time than you could possibly waste in one fforum... ;)

Now if only we could get Mr. Fforde to tour the American south-
we have really good pie, just saying... :D
