Bandwagoning much?

(First thread post kind of thing, being new is very nerve-making.)

Now, i'm not one for shouting about plagarism, there are only so many ideas in the ether, but come on! First this, last week...

Then this today...

What's next? Jeremy Ppaxman writing a series about his erroneous crime fighting, PDR 'Last' woman?

Perhaps a Gormenghastesque TV adaption would be a good thing for The Eyre Affair, at least - tricky, though ain't it? They are stories perfectly created for books. Ho hum.

or,

How about Pod People visit Wuthering Heights.
Catherine and Heathcliff and co. could all just loom around, instead of all that shouting, meanness and lovers' angst.

The main problem is... TEA will now be much harder to get onto any silver screen, cos everyone will just say "Oh, he's copied Lost in Austin"

------
That statement is either so deep it would take a lifetime to fully comprehend every particle of its meaning, or it is a load of absolute tosh. Which is it, I wonder?

I doubt that any film adaptations would use a single book anyway.

The much more likely scenario would be that the general concept would remain and bits and pieces of stuff (from any or all of the books) most suited to the screen would then be thrown into a mixer with a contrived main plot that holds them together.

If Jasper wrote the screenplay there would be a fairly good chance of a decent movie but they usually throw it to a consortium of hacks to justify their status of already being on the payroll, then sack all but one and put his name into the credits.

An englist artist painted a car such that it appears to be vanishing against the background.

Now this is from one of Jasper's books, isn't it? Or am I mixing up things?

Isn't this just a double exposure, or a bit of transparent layering in Photoshop/PSP/similar?

I think that somewhere on the JFf website there is an acknowledgement to Escher for Thursday's car colour scheme.

There is another shot somewhere, that shows the car from the side that looks a little less faked. Just can't remember where I saw it though!

For a Skoda, that should be the default paint job.

Why? there are a lot of uglier cars on the road and at least Skodas are well built.......

i read the original post, then went and read about the Irn - Bru.

that was at least original and interesting.

Isn't there some line somwhere about the creative creating and the second rate copying. given the publication datesd I think the we can determine who is the plagarist

But then in movieland nothing is original, and thye keep showing it.

I would prefer that the books remain unfilmed so that my mind images are not fouled by the depictions of lesser minds.

Film adaptations can be excellent, and they dont have to spoil the books. However, that said, although I'd def. pay to see pride and predator, I'm going to be leaving Jekyll and Hyde starring confused slow talker well alone.

We went to see "Coraline (3D)" last weekend and while it departs from the book in some major ways, it was still well worth watching.

Not as scary, though.

I liked 'Coraline', and I'm assuming the book is equally odd! How does the movie deviate?
