Ditto, even if I am a heretic merely using it as a chance to eat chocolate eggs...

Well, any excuse for chocolate is a good one. ;-)

Easter was a pagan festival first, so there's no reason to feel guilty about celebrating (or eating eggs, anyway) without being Christian. The egg is a traditional symbol of renewal and doesn't have a fat lot to do with the Crucifixion and Resurrection, so far as I remember.

Eostre, if I remember correctly... I don't feel guilty about unching eggs, it's just I don't have the forty days of mucking about first ;-)

Never heard abstinence defined as "mucking about" before... lol

Have you tried compiling a dictionary, Ben?

I suspect that the GSD celebrates EVERY religion's holidays, sometimes even simultaneously.

Yes, I should think so. To whom it may concern, happy Passover! (It _is_ still Passover, isn't it?)

He should join a miletary academy. Enitre classes keep passing out together!
Sorry. Hitchhikes joke, re-formed.

Passover is over, as Easter happens at the same time- Jesus was Jewish, y'know, and the bit with the bread and wine in the upstairs room before he was betrayed by Judas, comes from the Passover Meal still celebrated by Judaism today.

They both move becuase the are realted to the number of full moons since the new year. At least passover is, and Easter is celebrated at passover becos that's when the first one happened.

Anyway.......

*runs off in search of chocolate*

My reality check has just bounced again.......

Easter - first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox.

As decided at the Synod of Whitby 664 AD

At least I'm fairly sure that's what was decided then. It's about 21 years since I did that bit of history, I just remember 'Synod of Whitby - 664'. One of those things that lodge in your memory and never go away.

I can also tell you what the capital of Upper Volta - Burkina Faso now, I think, is. Best attempt at spelling it: Ouagadougou. That was one of the answers in a quiz set by our geography teacher, about 22 years ago.

Now if only I could remember where I put that dictionary two months ago...
