eBay auction of Shades of Grey proof

Yesterday I was notified of the auction of a Shades of Grey proof. I put in a bid for this item. Today I have received a notification of cancellation of this item.

Interesting.

It is the first time I have seen a proof copy of one of Jasper's books for sale. I have a few of Terry Pratchett's early proof books but a proof copy of the new book has gone for over £800.

I seem to remember that Jasper auctioned the first proof at the last Ffiesta, but it would not be delivered until the book was ready to go?

It wasn't even a proof It was a set of type pages with part of the story.
A sort of pre-proof.

might want to see if the seller stil exists... You didn't win the auction and pay, before it was canned, I hope!

Or *still*, as we language historians say...

Oh, I don't know, I think there's a place for both: *still* should be used for a fairly lengthy stay (my mother-in-law is still visiting) and *stil* used to imply 'but not for much longer'(and I stil haven't read this month's edition of 'Famous Poisoners').

When's the book itself coming out? Some sources say this year, some others say next...

Perhaps different release dates in U.K. & U.S.A.?

I will stick with the Fforde one, though. :)

I got a pre-proof copy today. The cover is a 'colour by number' picture. [i325.photobucket.com]

Edit:

It's on ebay again?

Just looked at it... You know what would be awesome inside that book? Those little watercolour swatches that you used to get in paint your own illustrations books... It'd be so cool... Could stick random colours in for each house (brain explodes).

I sort of guessed that month 29 implied an outbreak of American dates.
