What would you recommend to someone who thinks Douglas Adams, Jasper Fforde, and Gary Wolf (no particular order) are the greatest things ever?

Small Gods, you say. I'll give it a look-see next time I'm at Barnes & Noble, along with Starship Titanic and George Carlin's semibiography.

You do know that the book "Starship Titanic" isn't by Douglas Adams, don't you?

Leave Starship Titanic alone.

The paperback I have has inside the back cover a picture of Terry Jones, sitting naked in a library, with his laptop on his knees. The book is like that picture: Where Jones thinks of himself as being unconventional, in reality he is only sleazy.

I agree with PrinzHilde, but did not want to be the one to diss the book. It is not as good as the game and that was not a major star - especially considering the other games DNA wrote.

I'm quite aware of this, yes. But it is part of the H2G2 universe, and I'm committed to owning as much of it as possible.

I read it a long time ago. I didn't think it was bad at all, though it wasn't exceptional in any way, either.

I read it when I was 12 and was quite disappointed too. Not what I had hoped, I think Terry Jones thought lots of s----e----- x was a good substitute for the story. I haven't been tempted to read it since. I did buy Pride and Prejudice with Zombies today though, still not certain it was a good move on my behalf.

Gosh, and my slow internet did this? I apologise for the numerous copies of this post.

Skids: what other games did DNA do? Would not mind tracking some down if I can....

He was involved with the H2G2 game and then one called "Bureacracy" which was great fun. The wikipedia article gives reasonable information, but can't capture the feel of playing it. Although they list quite a few platforms, I don't believe it ever actually appeared on the Atari or MS-Dos versions and don't forget that the Apple OS was nothing like what there is now, so you are going to need an emulator prog if you do manage to track down a playable copy.

Ah, 'Bureaucracy', one of the classic text adventures! Also, he did a version of Hitchhiker's Guide as a text adventure too. I have them. Nyahahahaha!

What format is your copy of Bureaucracy? Although not listed on the Wiki page, I believe that there was a BBC Model B version. I suspect that it was on floppies.

I don't remember if it's .dat or .z5. It's been a while. Originally it was floppy for Amiga.

It was the Amiga bit that I meant - just so that I can see which versions were actually available. Did you have the questionnaire (and read the questions on the 2nd & third sheets)?

Question answered elsewhere... Nord and Bert wouldn't have understood it...

Have heard about Beaurocracy. Chances of getting hold of it are low though. Abandonware maybe....

Will do some hunting....
