I don't think we have squirrels of either colour in New Zealand. Perhaps I could substitute Chinchillas? Certainly softer fur, and I believe that a suitable layer of load-bearing chinchillas would function adequately?

Knowing the Kiwi dislike of possums prehaps you would prefer to check their load bearing capacity.

Whereabouts in the Land of the Long White Cloud are you?

Possums are just flat things found on Kiwi roads. (Obligatory Kiwi joke:

Q: Why did the possum cross the road?
A: To see his flat mate.)

I think I may have flattened the bell curve of joke quality a bit, too.

I'm in Christchurch, near the Cashmere hills.
News item: It's not raining.

Getting back on topic - what on earth was the topic? Oh yes:

I say, I say, I say. What do you call a dead deer with no eyes?

I'm terribly sorry, but despite the change of topic I still have no idea what you're talking about: does it have anything to do with Practical Cats?

Practical Cats? There are no Old Possums on New Zealand roads. Possibly Macavity could be lurking in a pothole.

No, I was continuing:

Random Observation: Don't see many smilies used in this forum.

No squirrels? Tie a lavvy brush to the tail of a rat. It is close enough.

The level of fun around here negates the need for smilies, and people are pretty busy trying pies. You may find an odd simile hanging around like a stray cat.

Perhaps we could mark them with an "s" to draw more attention to them an to avoid confusion.

No, 's' is what we use to mark the statues, salamanders and people secretly called Simon.

We have a Simon? What does he say?

No-one ever talks to him. He's marked with an 's'.

I think he is marked with an "s" for "Silent", due an old bibliographic incident I believe.

Oddly enough, that's exactly what I thought when I saw the weird squirrel in Vienna... quite cute and jet black, but covered in dirt (also, it was the middle of winter... Aren't they meant to be hibernating then?) and quite aggressive... kept running toward me and chittering when was walking by. Possibly I was too close to it's tree? Cute as it was, it certainly didn't look cuddly!

The American grey squirrels that have taken over from the British red squirrel are usually tidier looking. They are very cheeky and don't seem to hibernate from my brief encounters with them in Winter and snow. I didn't see any while I was in Europe a while back.

Has the Ffestival happened yet? I haven't heard how it was.

The Ffestival happened back in 1985, but not until the end of May

May has ended? I must have missed the memo.

Yes, bad news indeed but all the Mays from 1986 until 2009 have ended.

The 1985 May has also ended, but not quite yet.

Suggests casting Violetmoon as Invisible Turbaned Lady, to keep her mind off her current worries.

That would be type-casting, but as long as that is allowed, that's fine with me. What's the casting director say?

(I've been known to throw a towel over my head to keep the light out of my eyes when I have a headache.) (Go ahead, laugh, just don't move the towel.)

I could have a lot of fun with being invisible. Hmmm...
