But what do we all think? My copy has been loaned out so I'm in a queue.

Maybe we should refrain from commenting as long as Our Webmaster has not created a proper forum for Shades of Grey, which has probably to do with the Sleuthing competion until 2nd March 2010.

An interview with Jasper from The Independent
[www.independent.co.uk]

The caption under the photo says: "Fforde's latest is the first time the writer has come up with his own characters"
Didn't he create the Next Family?

What is probably meant is that Shades of Grey is built fully on Fforde's own fictional characters.

Ah, so just poor English, rather than shoddy research?

Their wording is a touch degrading, Jasper has created lots of great characters before. I'm sure they knew how it sounded. They mustn't have read his other books.

Did anyone go to the London signing today? I saw randomly that there was a signing at 1 today.

I'm going next week to the Manchester signing, but as I'm presently between jobs, London is a bit too far!

Ah well, I didn't as was trying to see as much as possible before flight. I have however, pick up a nice crisp copy of Shades of Grey, which has made very good Reading so far. The plane seats don't do the book justice though- one needs to feel comfortable( if sitting around in a space the size of a hermit crab shell it cramps the Reading style somewhat).

Happy signing next week then!

And I'm off to the Nottingham signing and talk this evening. Should be fun!

I emailed Foyles 3 times - the first time in November when the event was announced and they didn't even bother to respond. I am really annoyed.

I haven't read it yet, so I'm not talking about it. I will have to go a buy it first.

I started to read it, then got a bit gloomy, loaned it to my pretty housemate, and now can't restart due to apathy.
