Trust me...I'm the Doctor...

Hey all!

(Checks watch...yep, predictable as ever, I should be doing work, hence the reappearance!)

So, with one of my obsessions not out for another month (although I got and loved the 2-chapter sampler...already getting the 'oh, how did I not get that last time?' from rereads on it!), I thought I'd come see what others thought of another of my foci. What did people think of last night's conclusion, and - more importantly - what about the trailer for the next series?

SPOILERS BELOW if you haven't seen The End of Time Part 2 yet!

Personally, the episode was something of a disappointment...while I liked the Time Lord plot, that finished half an hour or so in and was followed by a Lord of the Rings-esque multiple ending which I found - ironically enough - took all the emotion out of the Doctor's death, instead of putting it in like they hoped for. But it was typical of RTD's self-indulgence really. As for the next series...looks like it may be a bit more crazy and a bit more out and out funny (which I'm not surprised by given it's Steven Moffat), and I'm hopeful it's going to be a lot of fun!

But I'm always interested to hear and see what others thought!

Hi LQ. Where have you put your card UU?

Mrs. SkidMarks & I agree with you about the ending of David Tennant's time as The Doctor, even to the point of checking to see if Per Jackson was involved in any way. Overall, though, we enjoyed the story.

As just about all our favourite stories have been by Steven Moffat, we have high hopes for the new series and I look forward to Gina Bellman making an appearance. (She seems to be in most things he does!)

Hi LQ

The most unbelievable bit was Micky marrying Martha

But it saved The Doctor having to make yet another visit.....

My UU is stored away in my wardrobe, which - put like that - leads to some interesting mash-up ideas! It's a bit of a shame it being hidden away, but given it's rather large (especially when arranged properly) and I'm away at real University for most of the year, the wardrobe's just about the only sensible place for it!

Regarding the episode, I'm wondering what the full story would have been like if they trimmed it down a lot - possibly enough to fit it into one (extended) episode. I reckon with a bit of time a far better paced and more exciting episode could result...but in a way I suppose that wasn't the point.

And agreed with the Moffat enthusiasm! Eagerly awaiting series 5 here...

I seem to be hearing alot against it, but Tennants last words were remarkably human. None of this overly jolly "See you on the other side!" with a grin stuff.
Tennant is a remarkable actor.
Wasn't too fussed on the story before it though, with the Time Lords. The parts with John Simm were awesome though.

I enjoyed it, shed a tear, but altogether, can't wait for this year's episodes.

Tennant was pretty good in Hamlet as well.

<Digs bunker>

Me and the little Gegs really enjoyed this series, especially the ending.

It is fair to say that mrs. SkidMarks and I really liked it as well. To the point that Matt Smith is probably now my favourite Doctor.

Offers Mr and Mrs SkidMarks refuge in the bunker where special, celebratory, "congratulations on your choice of favourite Doctor" pie is currently being served.

He'd be very welcome - especially as he'll now be in clean clothing. Will he also be wanting pie?

Ah, 21st century clean clothes beats 19th & before by light-years!

Considering how many new Dr. Who t-shirts & other gear he's brought home lately,
I'm almost surprised he didn't try to fix the washer with his sonic screwdriver... ;)

He'll be wanting pumkpin pie, which I suppose will have to be marked with an "s" for seasonal...

Did it go something like this?

"What do you see as the likely outcome of your research?"
"More smaller rocks and fewer big ones"
