0)Arguably mineral and/or vegetable, has been described as animal but is mostly ethereal
1)Is it ectoplasm? No (but it would have been if I had thought about it.)
2) Do you own one? No
3) Is it ffordean? No
4) Does it fit into a breadbox? No (Please note ethereal)

It has a physical form, but with very few exceptions peoples' perception of it and other similar entities is not of the physical form itself.

5) Is it space dust? No
6) Does it smell? No , but the general consensus is that it stinks

Would you expect the average Joe Bloggs to enjoy the musical content of your unknown entity more than listening to a rendition of Handel's Largo performed on bagpipes constructed from a hollowed out haggis?

Roughly how many RPM do you feel Edgar Rice Burroughs's body is managing at the moment?

<Hands the ceremonial cloak of questioneer to MistyCat>

For the record, while not exactly a good version of the Barsoom origin story, it was better (less bad?) than a lot of recent movies. I think that if it hadn't cost so much it would not have taken the battering that it has been given.

(If you are still confused, look up John Carter & Disney)
