10) Nearly all are easily combustible - some might give off nasty fumes.

Are they, in part, often coloured red?

11) I have never seen one even partly coloured red. I've never been to Australia but I doubt they're coloured red there either. I'll try and find out.

11) Research done. You will never see a red one anywhere in the world. This is a huge clue. Although please note, this refers to the object itself and not necessarily its surroundings.

Gosh, so much information rather negates the yes/no game!

12) Can you take them on a plane?

12) Yes

The item is: Mostly mineral, frequently, arguably vegetable. (arguably? hmmm) Relatively easy to damage but unlikely to break when dropped. (again, hmmm)

Normally smaller than an average bar of unused soap. Combustible, with fumes, but can be taken on a plane.

Not designed to be eaten, not made to be worn on the body, no moving parts. Not a household appliance, a communications device, or red.

<thinking to self>
Something that is never red, has no moving parts, and is mostly mineral.
<no question mark, so not a question!>

hmmm. could BE a bar of soap... but I've seen a red bar of soap. Christmas themed.

<goes back to the Treehouse to think so more>

Curiouser and curiouser. (Aside: my spellchecker accepted that, but it didn't accept "spellchecker." I've run out of hyphens, so I can't correct it.)

I was going to ask a question but, like the cartoonist with an empty sheet of paper, I've drawn a blank.

No, I'll have to at least try.

Would I expect to pay less for the object than for an average loaf of bread?

13) If you're Egon the answer is "Yes". For everybody else the answer is: "You don't expect to have to pay for them at all".

Of course this puts ES at a great disadvantage, but then that's what you get for being a stickler for the rules.

OT: I thought the word was 'spelling checker'. A spellchecker would be a Ffordean word, some Mycroft invention in line with the entropy checker.

Ummm Ffordean you say?

I thought "spellchecker" was a pattern of black and white squares with letters in them.

I thought it was a game, something like draughts, played at H**w***s school

Over here, a spell checker is the self-assigned killjoy who, ten minutes after the hard-working volunteers have completed most of the arduous task at hand and have paused for a spell, will check his watch and yell, "Back to work!"

12a should read 13a, and 12b should read 13b. Unless you have something Ffordean against 13.

But thanks anyhow for the compilation, because it makes clear that I missed a hint ("Ffordean"). Though I'm still baffled how something is neither being paid for nor found in nature.
