It made me think of the scene when Eddie and his father are travelling to East Carmine. They are passing a town called Persimmon-on-River "where the Oranges alighted". If you have followed the Sleuthing competition, it is relatively clear that Persimmon-on-River is meant to be Hay-on-Wye, Jasper's home town.

Who were the Oranges on the train? Were they on their way to the Hay Festival? Will they make an appearance in a future book?

It's kind of eerie though that in a nearby country Oranges are in control. That is, it has an Orange for queen.
