We had a wonderful time at the 1985 Fforde Ffiesta.

Thank you to everyone who came – new and old friends alike - who made it fun to be at.

I missed you Mr & Mrs Skids and Wheelbent.

There were many lobsters hiding around the hotel.

Strontium Goat did their pre union gig at the Gala Dinner

Taj Mahals were built

Lobster Space Invaders were pelted with water bombs

Hamlet defeated the Zombies with the help of the Legion of Danvers who themselves held a cracking marching display.

Frankie Savloy wowed us with Name that Fruit.

The Hamlet Soliloquy was recited in 37 seconds with a group reading in German.
Grey Angst poems were lamented.

Two chapters of One of Our Thursdays is Missing was read by Jasper.

We even started to plot the next one!

I think the 23 marching Mrs Danvers clones set a new world record, didn't it? The bearded ones looked particularly fetching, I thought.

The 1985-themed village fete was popular as well, especially the Extreme Knitting.

The Gala Dinner was a highlight of the weekend for me - the hotel seemed to really pull the stops out for that one. Great value for money, I thought, when you consider it was included as part of the overall ticket price. All the hotel staff (a.k.a. "Greys") throughout the weekend were worthy of praise, but the waitress who recommended the mushroom stroganoff as an accompaniment for the chilli-con-carne and rice was especially noteworthy, particularly when she topped it off with a Jaffa Cake. Brilliant.

Strontium Goat's performance was just awful. Sorry, did I say awful? Awesome - that's it.

Got home OK. As I was on a motorbike I was very pleased the forecast rain didn't appear however the wind was very string and I found myself fighting hard to keep the bike straight.
The whole event was brilliant. I applaude the Fforganisers and the other attendees.
I felt it was like a wedding or funeral - bit of a far flung family getting together remaking aquaintances.
I was very pleased to regain my Feeding the Dodo crown (well a knitted Dodo and marshmallows and to win the Mycroft's Shed award.
Truely a wonderful weekend. I have already booked for next year (and even Tuesday Next).
Photos to follow (I took over 1000).

Geg, those photos are fabulous! Is there more of your work available on Flickr?

Missing the DeVere's breakfasts right now. Rentawitch, have some of their gorgeous black pudding for me, would you?

What a great weekend. Really enjoyed the Lego, not played with that stuff ffor years.

And now I have a whole year of listening to that soliloquy as Nathalie tries to beat her time...joy! <----insert sarcasm here.

Can't wait for next year.

The whole weekend was great.
There are already ideas for a piece of Shakespeare..... heh heh..

I must come up with thinner costumes if I am to get more in one case :)

And I might just try and learn that sililoquy........

Hey all,
Just a quick note. I've survived the rest of my trip across London. Managed three shows in two nights (Love Never Dies, 39 Steps, and Priscella). Quite a trip, thanks for the memories. Looking forward to the next Ffiesta.

Have a safe trip home. See you next year!

So, will there be another Ffiesta? And if so, where will it be and in what year? I vote that it take place in the colour blue and in the year of the Wombat.

Egon - the next one will be 28-29 May 2011 at the De Vere (will be revamped and renamed under the Village group of hotels) in Swindon. It will take place in 1968. The tickets will be on sale at the end of October

I'll try DiCaprio too. It would be a relief from the grind of thesis-writing.
