.....going to the SFX Weekender?

(Sorry to all overseas Fforumites, this is a U.K. event at Camber Sands, next February)

My computer beat me at chess, but I won at kickboxing

People in the UK don't realise how fortunate they are in having:

1 Place to go that are not on fire (WA) or flooded (Qld & Vic)

2 Not three days continuous driving away

3 Weather that can be tolerated without excessive amounts of sunscreen, snake bite antivenom etc

4 don't have redback, funnel web, white spot, trapdoor spiders, various snakes and the occasional lizard and wasps to bother with each time they step outside

5 They can get home again without the travel time.

In the former colonies these factors all apply, coz even if you fly to place X you still have to travel to the venue which might be a further 50 -100 km away.

But our food is better.

You forgot the mouse spiders.

Urgh. Frigging mouse spiders.

On the downside we are bombarded by television adverts, television programs, magazine articles, ex pat friends, relatives and random strangers in the Doctor's Waiting room, telling us how much happier we would be if we moved to Australia.

I wouldn't mind visiting Australia from New Zealand, but the airline won't let my sheep travel Business Class, and I'm not leaving her behind or making her put up with Coach class.

I thought in NZ it was the Aussies who were supposed to be the butt of sheep jokes. (heehee, butt of sheep)?

True, BK, but I don't mind laughing at myself. Anything else would be underhand and not cricket. Here, have some New Zealand Pavlova.

MC, do you put kiwi fruit on your pavlova?

I've had Pav/Kiwifruit, Pav/Strawberries and Pav/Passion-fruit over the years, but on the whole I'm not all that fond of Pav.

A dessert I like is rice (cooked as though for (say) a curry and rice meal), any of the 40,000-odd varieties but probably Basmati, then stirred to separate the grains, add a bit of milk/cream, a dash of vanilla essence, a bit of sugar, then freeze to the consistency of soft ice cream.

Chocolate sprinkles are mandatory.

Peppermint crisp on the pav is a winner. But you need the outside of the pav to go a little bit chewy.

When I can persuade my wife to make it we have strawberry, passionfruit, mango and choc chip plus rich thick cream.

Bugger the blood pressure

It probably does!

Passionfruit is my fave. Sour and sweet... Mmmmm...
