I don't know if our Australian friends from the Ffiesta last year are on the Fforum, but if they have been affected in any way by the flooding I wish one or both of them would let us know. I have wondered about them for several days, and every time I hear about more tragedies occurring each day I worry more that they or their families might be affected.

Did anyone get contact information from them before we all dispersed last May? I'd like to think that the Ffordian community would like to try to give them at least some emotional support should they need it.

I know that BK has had a fairly close call, but the creek stayed in it's banks. BwH is in Melbourne, as am I, and we have only had heavy rain to contend with, nothing tcompared to Brisbane about 1,000 miles north.

Now if someone would like to do something about the humidity, that would be good.

If there's anyone in Qld who needs anything, there's a slightly damp kitten happy to help where she can.

It makes Adelaide with only 40C temperatures to contend with a comfortable place to live.

As the Adelaide metro and suburban area sits on a series of fault lines we are waiting for the earth to move for us. It's 60 years since the last large quake in Adelaide.

Side story: During the floods I telephoned my brother who lives in Ennogera (suburb of Brisbane). His wife told me it was bucketing down but as they lived on a ridge they were safe, and my brother was in Tully where the sun was shining. Tully is one of the wettest places in Australia.

Cyclone Yasi hit Tully full on and blew even the sunshine away.

Now we are expecting bananas to cost more than $A10 per kilogram = about 4.50 pounds sterling a pound. What do bananas cost normally in the UK.

PS a banana is one of those yellow (and/or black) fruits that Mycroft introduced to South America. May be rare in some places, and soft in others.

I get bananas (middle america imports) for 2–3 € per kilogram. (2.70–4.00 $A or 1.70–2.55 £) If you buy leftovers in the evening, you can get away with 1 € per kg...But then Germany is notorious for its low food prices.

I think it's an attempt to prevent the spate of spammers we've had in the past.

By the way, do you think spammers could be prevented by controlled use of the mispeling vyrus, turning them all into spanners?

Still, a lot of strange things happen, for example when using the search function:

Searching for posts containing "c h e a p": [www.jasperfforde.com] will find you a lot of things, including the good old leatherwear spammers,
searching for posts containing "@#$%&": [www.jasperfforde.com] gets no result at all

How funny. We've entered an alternate universe after all!

I don't think so.....I think we are stuck between universes.
