No not as exciting 'cos it's not the day before my birthday when I get to open my present at one minute after midnight after the mwah mwahs.

I think its a midwinter thing, though I quite agree if you live in the Southern Hemisphere it would make more sense to start the new year in July, and if you live on the Equator well, it makes no sense at all, unless you're OB of course.

Well until 1751 the 25th March was the start of the New Year - Lady Day.
