I loved having "The Last Dragonslayer" as an app on my iphone, but now i have a new obsession.
I have put:
Jane Eyre
Sense & Sensibility
Pride & Prejudice
Winnie the Pooh series
Alice in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass
Little Women series
Great Expectations
David Copperfield
A Christmas Carol
Jungle Book
Kim
Just So Stories

all on the iphone and listen to them in the train, at work, before bed....

Am I being lazy expecting people to read to me?

I find listening to a book being read can bring out things which you can miss while reading.

If you are being lazy, then so am I. I have been listening to books for several years. I try to do something useful while listening... such as crochet or housework or something. But I do find myself sitting down and just listening. That probably ~is~ lazy, but, Oh Well.

I just love audiobooks. I will always have real books around, too, but I really enjoy having someone read to me. You should probably come out from under the headphones on occasion, though, just to see if you are missing anything important.

Usually it is in the train while knitting, to and from work, or when ironing or cleaning the bathroom!

I used H2G2 on tape as my bedtime story for years & still have a huge collection of audiobooks...

I have made some mistakes....

Sense & sensibilty read by an american voice????

No offence intended to our trans-atlantic and trans pacific fforumites, but english books should be read with english accents.

I was happy for an american to read the Little Women series to me.

Hmmmmmm.

Wodehouse read by Burt Rynolds? (..or Sean Connery, .. or Vinnie Jones)

The Old Man & The Sea read by Joanna Lumley?

Any guesses at the most mismatched book/voice. Let's avoid generic accents as that is too easy.

Picnic at Hanging Rock with Arnold Schwartzenegger

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn with Denis Waterman - he'd have to sing the theme tune as well
