Were we supposed to put the posts in a straight line? Its just that some of them look a bit irregular to me.

Do you have your glasses on, geg dear? Those aren't posts... Those irregular things are the fforum members, and they refuse to stand in a straight line. Some sort of Treehouse regulation, I think. I haven't gotten around to reading the regulations, so I'm not sure.

Only 31 more posts to go - surely its time to hang up the bunting?

re irregular fforum members. their alignment is quantum, right?

no way they could be aligned, somewhat like the uncertainty principle: if you know how many fforum members you have you can't tell where they are.

It's bloody 33C here today and the f*******g airconditioner has just broken down. #@&&***)^!!!!!!!

It's the next post, so I'd better start taking the wire off the bottle of champagne and get the glasses ready.

Streamers, bunting, balloons, cheering but most daring of all

a pie for SkidMarks marked with 100,000 (and a S for SkidMarks).

In heralding this auspiciously suspicious moment, I return, from beyond the 100k postmark.

They use stamps there.

I should apologize for the 68k of bunting in my post. On my 56k dial-up it makes a noticeable difference in loading time, and I imagine that it affects some of the small screen high tech devices others use. Very thoughtless of me. Face

All I can do now is try to achieve the next page of this thread as quickly as possible, but I don't know if page length is determined by a count of posts or by quantity of bytes.

I've just done a quick test. I uploaded as jpg, and I've now looked on my computer at a conversion to png and gif. Results:

Jpg . 23k
Png . 08k
Gif . 04k

I promise to post more responsibly on the 1,000,000 post landmark.

I'm reminded of a time in the early 80s when I spent roughly half a day rewriting a 6510 machine language routine to reduce it from 130 bytes to 128 bytes. It was a garbage collection routine for... (free slice of geek-cake if you can guess the machine), and it reduced garbage collection time from several seconds (sometimes tens of seconds) down to a time not perceivable by human senses.

Them was the days, them was.

A thought occurs. I wonder if I should edit the post to replace the jpgs with gifs...

Nah. I'll just write a long and rambling post to speed the arrival of the new page.

And while I remember - Congratulations to SM for his very apposite post.

Umm a C64, or it could have been the 1551 disk drive.
