Swindon Festival of Literature

I collected my ticket today for Jasper's talk at the Arts Centre in Swindon on 7th May, seat number K5 on the aisle; the best one left I was told. The receptionist also told me the talk itself would be about an hour, with half an hour or so allocated afterwards for book signing. So I shall be there all prepared with my books and my camera, although I did forget to ask if photography was allowed. Well, if there any signs which say 'no photography' I shall just ignore them!

Really envious - I was all set to go but now I can't and unless my invite for the launch party comes through I probably won't get a chance to meet the great man himself!

Have a really whizzo time and takes lots of photos - ignore the jobsworths who'll tell you you can't.

Susan, as soon as i know anything about the launch party (that is assuming I will get an invite) I will let you know.

If photography is not allowed by fans, and Jasper and Mari have anything to say about it, they'll probably bring a camera themselves (Mari said she usually has one) and they'll take pics. I could see them getting posted on here. Wouldn't surprise me one bit!

Carla - you're a pal - and vice versa if I get anything - I know my name's been put forward but I suppose 3 months is a pretty long time before the event to get an invite.

Am going to Joanne Harris's launch for Holy Fools tomorrow - it's in the crypt of St Etheldreda's in Holborn - should be creepy enough.

I'm going there as well! We have a signing with her at lunch time.

Erm... how will I recognise you? I have shoulder lenght brown hair and I wear glasses. Not a clue what i'll be wearing, but i can post that tomorrow.

Not yet decided on clothes either - about 5ft 10ins, shortish auburnish hair (complete lack of style because I'm growing it out of its previous one!) and not exactly slim.

But I'll find you anyway.

that might be the one, I knew I remembered it from a previous posting!

Would it not give auntysassy some idea of how you look?

Can't get to Swindon and don't get invited to book signings - I've had *nine* books published and never had a book signing.
I'm sulking now.

Skiffle, talk to you local library and try to arrange an event, or go to shops where you have books for sale and offer to sign stock or do some sort of event, most shops have a budget for local marketing.

Susan, i'm wearing black trousers and a stripy cream and black top, so now you know better how to avoid me later...

I'd love to go ..... But I gotta work, dammit. (By 'work' I mean surf the net and answer the phone when it rings, you understand). I can't take a holiday because I've used them to go to Winchester next weekend for our wedding anniversary. No worries. We will catch up with Jasper en masse at one of his WOLP signings.

Oh, and hi Andrea! Nice to see you posting here .... and I hope you noticed I snuck Roobarb into one of my Omnian readings on afp!

It was in the reading at the head of the 'Om Shall Trample the Ungodly' filk .... if you can find it under the pile of posts arguing about Shreddies adverts (it's so much more civilised here).
