Pies

There is a new batch by the treehouse. They are mince pies. Marked with an "S" as they are seasonal.

the ones containing minced meat rather than mincemeat are savoury and so marked as usual.

Enjoy.

As I passed the Treehouse today, I tripped on an exposed root and fell. My suitcase burst open and I lost several of the props for the local Panto, "Murder at Mrs Miggs's Pie Shop," in particular several dozen pies.

They should be easy to find as all have been marked "S" for "Styrofoam."

Beware everyone: simulated pies made from styrofoam are a sham. They are a synthetic simulacrum and not to be savoured.

OB, it seems that you need the healing power of a good pie. It is easy to tell which pies are the sanative ones: they are in the first aid box.

My Dad was a baker he cooked pies to earn a crust. Always said "One of these days we will be on the Gravy Train".

Steeljam dear I remember you from this year's fforde ffiesta and I said to myself "there goes a man who could write pie jokes for pantomimes":
you've just proved me right.

Does chaos theory predict pies?

Perhaps the big bang was the sauce from which all pies sprang.

Some mutating to become sweet and some savoury. the 'pie/antipie' balance.

Are there 'dark matter' pies?

Is 'dark energy' the effect of too many pies (and liquid refreshments)?

Are there pies in the Andromeda galaxy, or like kebabs, unique to this galaxy?

The steak in Guiness pies are dark, and their quality matters to me, so perhaps they are the missing link needed to balance the sweet/savoury equations and lead to a unified baked goods theory.

provides poached pear pies for balance - dark sweet matter pies

caramalise tops? i might even be tempted from the savoury side.

The savoury/non-savoury distinction may be an artefact caused by a subtle differential calculation in a higher dimension.

We being in 4d space time may only be percieving the three dimnsional aspect of a multi dimensional pie event.

The 'dark sauce' explanation required to balance the gravitational asopects of pies may again be the effect of a multidimensional pie interaction.

I do not know if it explains pes in a meat pie.

What does he mean by fourpenny space time. Might be the price of a northern pie short of a shilling!!!!

Well short of a shilling! You could buy 3 pies for a bob at 4d each.

That's alright for people who've got Bobs to spare but mine's called Wilson which leads to all sorts of problems when you expect some change.

Historic note: In 1956 in Kingaroy a meat (sic) pie with tomato sauce cost 9d.

Contemporary note: a pie with sauce in Adelaide now costs $3.80.

[$3.80 is equivalent to 38 shillings in the old money, so from 9d to 38 shillings is about 51 times more. Is this rate of inflation over the same period similar in other countries?]

Are we to understand that a "d" is a penny and that there were 12 pennies in a shilling?

Is a "pie with tomato sauce" the same as a pizza slice?

If so: pizza slices are being sold in Holland nowadays but they weren't in 1956.
If not: price comparison and inflation rate calculation gets even more cumbersome.

Extensive research has led me to conclude that inflatable pies were probably not available at all in the UK in 1956.
