I read Nextian chat whenever my belief that we live in a sane and rational world starts to become a little weakened.

I think that the reading of the various posts and the understanding of the such erudite and wise words that I read help me maintain, to quote (badly) Karellen, 'what little sanity I still preserve'.

It is only the evidence of the fforum that allows me to believe the 'other minds' problem in philosophy is solvable as a positive.

So it's just the erudite and wise words that help?

Oh well, I tried.

I studied so hard for my Turing Test, too.

MC,

The unerudite and unwise words also help, especially if they are funny.

So do the little white pills, the big white pills, the Pils, the long white pills, the off colour pills, and chocolate.

Used to read it on sheet-changing days- explains all those laundry-related posts, don't it?

Now have a very distracting baby in the computer room- or is that the other way round?

Anyway, this is the 1st time I've had time to even lurk here since a couple of months ago,
so I thought I'd say hi or hey or whatever single-syllabled greeting the baby was saying earlier...

Sounds like congratulations are in order.

Does the baby have a suitably Mooresian name?

Congratulations Z.

In the past two months the CannibalRabbits have welcomed a new "kitten" rabbit into the fold - Zoe.

My answer to "when do you read Nextian Chat" will have to be "at very long intervals", I suppose, because it's been quite a while! In my defense, I had discovered Doctor Who and that kept me distracted.

Yes they are both Zoe, but it's pronounced differently for each one. Sorry I've obviously been listening to too many Dave Gorman podcasts in a row - they spoke about twins named Tanya pronounced Tania and Tawnya. Sorry for the double post.

Congrats to the new parents.

Of human children i presume.

We've got a new litter of 6 Burmese cats in house now. They are getting teeth and mum is not a happy girl.

My family is about to grow by one as well--I'm adopting a Ragdoll cat that belonged to a friend of mine, who is no longer able to care for her.

The kitty's name was Angel, but I'm changing it to Ada (as I cringe at the thought of being known as one of *those* people who has a pet named "Angel").

Since she's got long, luxurious white and gray fur, I'm hoping to harvest it and spin it into yarn as well. (So I'll be one of *those* people who wears garments made of her pet's fur… Don't ask me why I'm willing to be one of *those* people but not one of *those* people.)

MS,

Good luck.

Our ragdoll has moved on to a new home. It was a compulsive talker and when you have 11 cats and a dog in the house peace and quiet is what you begin to crave.

To be truthful a ragdoll is an ideal cat for someone who wants the company of one cat. Ours is named Toby, and one of its siblings is named 'Jesus' for my daughter was at the birth and when she saw this kitten born being very, very large she said that word, and it stuck. The entire litter survived and grew up to become floormats of the mobile kind.

It doesn't matter what you call it as it will only respond when it feels like it.

Her name is Sophia Lyntella-
unfortunately, the 1st name is the most popular of the decade so far
but I'm certain nobody will have the middle name unless they steal it from me-
I stole it but changed the spelling a bit, wanna guess where I got it?

<Hint: Change 2 of the vowels>
