><I don't like Rankin quite as much as I once did. Maybe I've just gone off sprouts.>

I know what you mean, but it may be just a shift in style that I've yet to catch up on. I've just been revisiting the early Brentford Trilogy and they still make me giggle ... and Pooley is still me even though I've given up the Wild Woodbines.

In on sci-fi fantasy tip
Ripped through Johannes Cabal Necromancer by Jonathan Howard then went and got the next two in the series. Same with Rivers Of London by Ben Aaronovitch, straight out and snaffled Moon Over Soho.
Just been introduced to Christopher Moore via Fool ...
Other recreational reading has been Pratchett, Adams and the like, anything to lighten the mood after wading through various 16th-18thC recipe books and medical treatises for work.

I've heard that there's a sequel to FOOL in the works
& while you're waiting, the AG has about a dozen more-
I'm usually in the boardello but there's been almost no action lately
so twitter's the only way to keep up with Chris these days...

I WILL NOT participate in that other social network!
