In need of cake
Posted by: Barnadine (---.in-addr.btopenworld.com)
Date: January 12, 2007 12:35PM

Just found out that the business I work at will cease to exist on the 25th of March. Through no fault of my own -or anyone else's-, I will therefore be unemployed, unless I find something else to do.

I hate looking for jobs, even more so than doing the washing up. It always makes me feel like some sort of educated prostitute. I find the nicest way to find employment is through people you know. I don't know anyone. Rats.

*puppy eyes* Does anyone have cake?...

Help yourself to as much pie as you feel that you can manage.

We also still have some excellent Zuger Kirschtorte which is a cake that thinks it's a pie that thinks it's a drink.

(Send a PM if you need some support info on social networking/hidden job market.)

Skidmarks; are you sure? I can manage quite a bit of pie *whoohawhaw*.

Thanks for the support and the cake. I am absolutely petrified. I have no degrees, and even though I have so much experience in every business you care to mention, people'll not give me a second look. It is very frustrating.

;-) Anyone for guitar lessons? ;-)

Any one of you self-employed?

Barnadine, you have my compassion, especially since I am in exactly the same situation...

(ok, no guitar. But I learned to play piano a few decades ago.)

Would you like some lemon pound cake?
And best wishes?
(For both of you.)
What do either of you do best? There must be an opportunity to be made.

In such situations the only cake that will be useful is a MASSIVE slice of triple layer devils food cake with lashings of double cream. I hope things work out ok for you, Barney.

PrinzHilde: The funny thing is, that I am actually a professional musician and I was thinking about taking my teaching to the next level. But then, I hate teaching. *smirk*

*tucks in to the vast amounts of cake and pie that suddenly appeared*

Between your support and my wife's, I'm starting to see silver linings again. Thank you.

I don't have a degree but I've tons of experience and I can usually manage to get a job if needed - a lot of it is in the presentation on your CV - if you would like some help with that, feel free to PM me.

In the meantime, here's some more cake - it's raspberry cheesecake this time!

If you hate teaching, don't do it.
Would you like tea or mocha with which to wash down your cake and pie?

with the risk of sounding like a tw*t: cappuccino?

Problem with teaching is that it's something I'm quite good at, therefore doing it is fairly easy. I just get frustrated with students who are obviously there because they think they ought to be instead of want to be.

which prompt the following -wholy unrelated- question: How many of you play an instrument?

I have been known to.

<hands over cappuccino.>

How many students did you have who wanted to be there?

No musical talent whatsoever, even had to mime the recorder in school concerts soooooo many years ago.
