I had an unfortunate incident on Saturday night involving a security scare, so my blog is currently being made friends-only. That means that anyone who wishes to lurk on it in future will need to get an account on the site. (You don't actually have to write anything in it, and it's free.) I know that Dave and AAC have already got them, so you two are OK, but I also know that there are one or two other people here who read it and haven't.

Oooh, Sarah, sorry to hear about that. Yes, that kind of thing is very scary. I can understand your reasoning for making it friends only!

I once had a semi-stalker that used to try to come see me at work. I finally had to tell store security to keep him away from my studio. Scary.

Done that as per instructions, but I can't leave a request to be Friended until my account has been confirmed.

Slightly worried about security issues now ...

I had problems with a stalker, met him through afp, he even moved up here to live almost within sight of my house

I had got to the point where the next step was the police when he finally got the message

later I told hijm how close he had got to having bobbies on the doorstep and he was shocked = he had no idea

he's done it to others since but not to such a degree, I'm concerned now as it seems to be happening again and I'm not sure who is the target

hopefully I'm wrong

Andrea - that's scary, didn't realise anyone on afp was like that... I guess it's just a statistics thing, there's one in every big social group....

It's not exactly a stalker, more a potential risk. The problem is that there is enough information in my journal to connect me with a certain enterprise which has attracted negative attention from certain jealous types who have been trying to do similar things without success. I made a very stupid mistake on Saturday night which drew attention to the risk (though I think good has come out of it in the end, because it means I've been able to close the stable door before the horse actually bolts).

Let's just say that someone else connected with this particular enterprise - a completely inoffensive character whom you couldn't imagine upsetting anyone if they met him in person - was besieged for months by one of these lunatics. I'd rather not be next in line. :-S
