Hope that this finds one and all in fine fettle and that all goes well with all in your lives...

Q. Anyone know if the esteemed Mr Fforde will be attending the Edinburgh Book Festival this year?

A. ?

A - not as far as we are aware, unless perchance the Festival co-incides with the projected July signing tour to promote Well of Lost Plots (for which we Have Plans).

Nah, the book festival will be in August. He should go, though, it's fun. I saw Neil Gaiman last year, and lots of Festival Fringe comedy stuff. And some proper theatre, too. (A Jon Fosse play.)

Welcome, Blaeberry! Are you who I think you possibly might be? (And if you don't understand the question, you're not, so remind me to introduce you to the said person!)

Mmmm...curiouser and curiouser...

I certainly am who I think I am but must confess to being somewhat less certain as to who you might possibly be.

I guess this state of affairs ascertains the answer to your question and thus please consider this to be the prerequisite reminder for the introduction that may alleviate the state of Wonderland in which I now find myself...

OK, so you're not Irene! Don't worry about being confused - it happens a lot on the Fforum. The only reason I was a little circumspect is that if my friend Irene does turn up on here (as she may do), she will probably not want her identity shouted out, at least until she gets to know everyone.

We're all slightly strange here. It makes it more interesting. :-)

Is there any way we can get Jasper to Sheffield's 'Off the Shelf' festival, in October ? Better start finding out who we need to bribe. And how much we can raise between us.

Oooh... good plan! I think, however, the word may be "mob" rather than "bribe". If we can find the organisers and get the entire Fforum (Yorkshire & North Derbyshire Branch) to write to them pleading for the appearance of Mr Ff, then we may just get somewhere.

Oh, and Minsky says that if we need anyone staring out to the point of intimidation, he'll help!

But please, Minsky, no presents of dead animals to the council/arts group. Some people can be funny about that kind of thing.

Can that be renamed to "Fforum (Yorkshire & North Derbyshire Battalion)"? It sounds so much more mob-worthy, somehow...

Object to suggestion of 'Battalion', as it leaves females open to being called 'Battle-axes'

Objection seconded. "Squad" would be OK if Wilfred didn't keep mispronouncing it as "squid"...

'Regiment' would never do, as that sounds far too organized for a bunch of fforumites.

How about Fforum (Yorkshire and North Derbyshire Branch) ?

Because
a: most of us are out on a limb
b: and/or completely (bark)ing.

Eh.....object to "Yorkshire and North Derbyshire."

Propose "Fairly Northerly Parts of Britain."

Yeah, but some southern softies reckon I'm a northerner, and northerners reckon I'm a southerner. I reckon I'm just drunk, and sod where I happen to live.
