Joffy Next, Hero of a new generation

Right now i'm in the middle of "Lost in a good Book," so don't tell me how it ends, but... I'm just past the part where thurs. finds out why Miles' clothes were in her apartment. Thank you mr. Fforde. that made my day. I'm not really one for "pride" as it were, but i think that even being able to put this in the plotline is a step foward.
besides, Joff deserves a good man.

And do you know what's really cool about it? No big deal is made out of it. No angst. No PC-points scored. It just is. This is how it should be.

Yes, hello Xavier. (You know I'm going to spell that wrong pretty soon.)

Welcome to the nuthouse. Ahem, I mean place of intelligent discussion.

Hi Xavier - I'm the other Sarah here, and my namesake was right on both counts! ;-)

Do you know, I had never even thought about it as an "issue" - I thought it was a very neat way of tying up a plot device without it being forced.

Isn't it implied that Joffy and Miles are not an item in TN's original timestream, just as an aside.

(and welcome, btw)

Which two counts, Sarah? I thought I had three? (But then we've established that I'm a musician and therefore can't count, so I could be wrong...)

I am loved. hum. now how many of you are hot boys between the ages of 18-22? (Just kidding. heh heh...)

But yes, I think it was implied that Joff had a boyfriend in the first book. and it was a good plot device. I'm just happy to se that Fforde isn't homophobic. So many authors seem afraid to venture in that direction.

It never twigged with me - I just thought Joffy was a fun sounding chappie who had a great take on religion.

I didn't notice any hints in the first book, but I wasn't really looking... will keep an eye out next time I re-read.

Two counts... the fact that this place is both a nuthouse and a place of intelligent discussion. I wouldn't presume to predict any future misspellings on anyone's part! :-)

I find it a little hard to see all this as an issue, to be honest. I'm not a lesbian, but my best friend is. Enough said.

s'not an issue, I just thought it was cool. (I always get in trouble for this stuff) it is possible to be religious and gay at the same time.

(It's just a plot device. It's just a plot device. you're making a big deal out of a plot device...)

you know, actually stopping to think about it....

I think it was extremely well written in the fact I didn't think anything of it. It just seemed perfectly natural. (Either that or I was just so relieved that Thursday's baby didn't belong to Miles! LOL)

Well done, Jasper!
