Is there an accepted collective noun for people from Sheffield? Sheffielders, Sheffieldians, Sheffieldites?

I'm not from Sheffield! I'm from Cardiff.

How about "Steelers"?

I don't think Cardiff County Council will be too happy if i refused to pay council tax unless Jasper was booked in a Sheffield book festival. Otherwise i would... :)

Are you joking?? You can't call Sheffielders "Steelers"!

I'm not the biggest ice hockey fan (having met most of the Steelers a few years back, they don't deserve it)

Ooh, that seems a good way to deal with it. Wish I'd thought of it yesterday, when I saw a semi-official sign on a shop door that said "Smile! Your on CCTV!"

Annoyed me for most of the afternoon, that.

Semi-literate as well as semi-official, obviously. Still, it could have been worse. You could have seen the sign I once saw in a greengrocer's shop:

"ALL NUTS, IS PRICED INDIVIDUALY"

why semi-literate? couple of full stops and it would have read fine, imho.
