dial-up connection vs. broadband
Posted by: Anonymous User (---.dalect01.va.comcast.net)

Hi all...

I have a quick question...I am kind of trying to get an idea of how many of you use a dial-up or slower connection vs those of you who have a faster connection, possibly broadband.

I'm working on some new stuff for JasperFfordeFfanClub.com and am trying to keep the page load as fast as possible but still have some really nice looking and fun features.

I would like to talk to someone with dial-up who would be willing to test a page but keep the contents under wraps until the newsletter is published later this month...

Thanks!

~Twila

Oh, and I'm also looking for a couple of surfers who use non-standard browsers...

so if you don't use MS-Internet Exploder (I mean Explorer) or Netscape, please let me know. I don't count AOL as a real browser either, so anyone who would like to test that would be great too...

Oh, and Carla, don't you have enough secrets already? I mean, sheesh, you've already read WOLP! <wink!> I may email you anyway...will let you know what's going on later....Thanks!!

Curses! I've just got broadband this weekend... I didn't realise there was going to be a down side!

hehehe broadband is NEVER a down side! (unless it goes out on you, but they all do that occasionally. My broadband connection is WAY more stable than my dial-up ever was. I don't even have a dial-up modem in my computer at the moment!

I've got Broadband on this one... but the one in my room still runs Windows 3.1. Poor Marvin (yes, that's it's name) has never even heard of the internet...

I have more RAM than that coz i went out and bought more, and a 56k modem... so you win.
but the question is do you use that laptop as your main computer? coz mine is...

Dave - Turning into the four Yorkshire men sketch again? Oh well, here goes...

My computer still uses the technology of the silicon chunk - you have to pay a stonemason to carve your message into a lump of rock and then get someone to carry it over t'next village - and downtime meant the period during winter when nobbut a snowplough'd get through...

I'm on 56k modem, but it always runs slower than that - how about an 'enhanced site' option?

I have just (oh well, all right, if you insist, *Adam* has just) put a new power pack in my old PC and trebled the memory in this one. I have broadband. All I have to do is swap a few files twixt PCs and Thunderbirds are go!

I realise this isn't quite in the spirit of the 'who's got the worst kit game', but I thought I'd share anyway.
