Haworth

Has anyone come up with a date for the Haworth get-together yet? I'm pleased to report that I have got David interested, so transport should not be a problem for me or Skiffle.

Good work, Sarah ! I'm free most days, but I've just discovered that I've got the same hospital appt down for two different Mondays. I'll check up on that

A quick spot of time travelling should sort that one out, surely? ;-)

Well, a date has not yet emerged from the consensus, but I think it would have to be a Saturday or Sunday; some of us work for a livin', y'know.

Interested parties should check their diaries and see if any of these grabs them at all; (I think this weekend is perhaps too soon, and with it being a bank holiday Haworth will be packed);

Sat 31 May - Sun 1 June - Sat 7 June - Sun 8 June

after that I'm on holiday in Wales for a week, and not free until Sunday 22 June.

A Sat would be better for people coming by public transport, but that's still fairly good even on Sunday.

Vote!

I could do 1st weekend in June (31st/1st) but after that not until the end of the month -- it'd be good though; could combine with a short hillwalking break in the Dales; haven't been for far too long.

I can go pretty much whenever, so long as its not too soon (still recovering and haven't been out m,uch yet. The only time I can't do is the last weekend in july.

I agree with Jon. It really needs to be a weekend for me.

I can do 31st May / 1st June but not 7-8th June. I'm reasonably free for the
rest of June/July.

If there's enough notice I may be able to make the trek up north if allowed by the rest of you?

At the moment, I'm free to go anytime. (well that narrows it down a bit). And Auntysassy; you're more than welcome to come and join us up North.

Well, 31st May/1st June looks favourite so far.

Planning will commence. How many people are coming?

5mins walk and 5 mins drive respectively

Soory, no. It's a longer round trip than I feel like making in one day, I doubt whether my budget would stretch to cover the train fares, and if it's going to be on a Saturday in June then I'll probably have to be at work on that morning anyway... I hope that those of you who do go have a wonderful time.

So is it going to be the Saturday or the Sunday, then?

I have just consulted David about whether or not he could also offer Andrea a lift, since there would be space in the car, and got the following complicated reply. It's not that he means to be complicated, it's just the [please insert expletive of your choice here] that he used to be married to; if he didn't have to take her into consideration, the answer would be an unequivocal yes. However:

1. David had forgotten that this trip was going to be at a weekend.

2. At weekends, and especially on Saturdays, David's vile ex is prone to ringing up and giving him about ten minutes' notice that he will be taking the children for the day. I do not exaggerate. Partly because he doesn't get to see them as often as he should and partly because of complex issues affecting his access, if this happens he has to drop everything and collect the children.

3. David would therefore like to cast his vote for the Sunday, since his ex is less likely to drop the kids on him then, but even so it's possible that the trip may be cancelled at very short notice, because she's not predictable. Since I would obviously also be in the car, my vote goes with David's.

4. Andrea - if you can cope with all this uncertainty and are feeling well enough to be driven, then you would be very welcome to join our party. Cuddly animals of any kind are also welcome, not just dodos. :-)

5. The sooner a definite date is fixed, the more leverage David has to tell his ex he's pre-booked. ;-)

6. David would be posting all this himself, but he's up to his ears in programming and the "Nextarillion".

Hope that all made some kind of sense...

Pubs are, so who cares?

(btw, I may be able to make it, as Skiffle has kindly offered me floor space. Unless I look particularly cute...)
