Don't forget Jon too! He helped! We're partners in crime!
( I do all the webdesign, Flash, some of the editing, etc...he's the word guy, generally does most of the edting, and he's in charge of doing the PDF version!)

The poetry page shows up way at the far right of the screen for me, too. (Mac OS X, Netscape 6.2.3.) Probably some glitch in the table tags.

Poetry screen OK for me at work (Pentium 200MMX (cutting edge here), NT 4.0, MS Exploder 5.50)

Another excellent issue - well done!

Just one thing - the links to Jon and Twila's info don't convert the mouse poniter to a little hand, making people (OK just me then) think they aren't links, but I clicked them anyway coz I'm nosey and they are links.

ya, for some reason, they don't convert...my hubby, who is a javascript whiz, couldn't even figure out why...

Twila

The links don't change the cursor because the <a> tag doesn't have an HREF attribute -- so the browser thinks it's an anchor, not a link.

To fix it, add the following to each of the two <a> tags:

href="#"

It's that easy (if not that obvious!).

Oh, I just gave away what I do for a living . . .

Ah... now I know whom to ask about my obscure computer-related problems! You see, I'm trying to learn to be a geek in my spare time, but unfortunately I'm not doing terribly well.

I knew about the href thing, that I had to do it I mean, but not why. How clever - now I have learnt something today!

Oooh somebody called me clever. Thanks Sarah -- it doesn't seem to happen all that often, as clients and other worky-type people assume that designers are a bit educationally challenged, for some reason.

As it happens, I've got a degree in classics, an interest in clever (and funny) books and a parallel career as a writer and editor (though not of anything enormously fun -- my latest oeuvre is a web site about debt management aimed at the numerically, well, innumerate really).

And yes, if anyone does have any questions about web sites, computers or wotnot that I might be able to help with, feel free to ask.

I haven't got any questions about computers, but, er, is the debt management site a public one? Sounds like what I need ;o)

Cool - a webbie
I have recenthly installed Apache Web Server on one of my PC's at home (to host a small database for a game I play online - oooh I'm such a geek!) and I have managed to get it working on my local network but I can't see it from the internet. I have set my ADSL router to redirect anything coming in on port 80 to the IP address of the PC on the LAN to no avail - any help greatly appreciated.

Dante: Debt management is easy. Banks are always prepared to lend you slightly more than you can afford to pay back. Thus you will always be skint.

Adam --

Does your ADSL connection have a static IP address -- most DSL accounts come with a dynamic IP address (so the IP address of your server is different every time you connect, so DNS servers can't find it). You usually have to pay extra to get a permanent/static one.

This would explain the server not being available on the web.

I'm not completely sure about this , as I haven't tried it, but you might be able to fix the problem using:

[www.dyndns.com] (which you can use to foward requests to your server's current address.

I think my boyfriend got his Broadband from zen because he could have a static IP address.

Guy,

You are right I do have a dynamic address but because I very rarely reboot my router it doesn't change very often - i'll try the dyndns thingy though - ta.

If anybody's really interested in the debt management stuff, it will be at:

[moneymatterstome.com]

but it hasn't gone live yet.

And bear in mind that I wrote part of the site (and edited the whole thing) but I'm not responsible for the design (yeugh).
