Dell - have you read 'Do not pass go' by Tim Moore? I mention it around here from time to time in a vague attmept to make it look like I read stuff...

I've just borrowed it from her bf, I think she's probably had a good dose of it second hand, if I like it she'll get more :-)

British version of Monopoly:

"You are the chairman of a newly privatised ex-state telephone/transport/energy company. Collect lots of money. Do not pass even the most cursory look in the direction of efficiency, customer service or anything non-profit-related"

Re soap Monopoly;

Werl, obviously the female equivalent is 'Discover that your sister is actually your mother, your mother is in fact your grandmother and your father was your Uncle Alf. Pay 200 pounds for counselling'.

'Leave series to pursue acting career. Return in six months after lack of same.'

'Go upstairs, do pass go, do not collect 200 pounds, and return three years later looking completely different.'

PSD, it's sat on the desk next to me, I have every intention of reading it, but as I am half way through one book, got three more I need to read before I pass them on & then I have two others to read, it's not going to happen soon :)

PSD, i am in fact the guy who owns this copy of Do Not Pass Go which is currently on loan to the Andrea. I liked it a lot. Especially his attempt to get free parking in London. Also his anti-hasbro dedication :)

There's another chance card in Soap Monopoly: "You leave series to pursue a Pop Career and fail badly. You owe the bank £1.5 million plus all your self-esteem. Return to the screen on some obscure welsh soap on S4C or a gardening program on UK Style in one year's time."

You can park for free in Archway
:-)

I read it as well, it's quite good.

I've got the Birmingham monopoly. Quiet fun, though we all fight over who is going to own the Hawthorns (Albion FC homeground) and nobody wants the Moleniux (Wolves FC homes ground).

I've got chocolate cake! And mini-eggs from Easter.

It's my own personal theory that there is nobody in the world who will say no to a mini-egg. (Unless you're allergic of course) They're just so darn yummy!

Saw 'St Andrews' monopoly the other day ... but it was dead boring. Star Wars was always the best - fond memories of cheating gratuitously.

Did someone mention black russians? White ones are much better (Vodka, Kahlua, Milk, maybe a drop of creme de cacao, chocolate sprinkles....) mmmm

You could test it by offering them round...

I wouldn't say 'no' !

Does St Andrews have enough streets to have a Monopoly? Crikey. Does it have Prince Wills on it?

Sorry to ruin your theory, but I do often say no to mini eggs. I don't like the chocolate. It's not nice enough :(

I like the shell though :)

Re: St Andrews monopoly - no, they resorted to using shops --- what a cop out!!! More to the point, they didn't even cash in on the Wills thing at all! Some people eh?

Shops?? What, like Woolworths? The Old Woollen Mill? Sounds fascinating. Did they have golf courses instead of stations? That's what I'd have done...

I can't remember, but I think they sell them at Fisher and Donaldson on Church Street if you're ever up. While you're there, get me some fudge doughnuts ... *licks lips in anticipation*

I'm trying to envisage a Worthing Monopoly set. We have enough streets, and just about enough railway stations... Actually, it would be quite feasible. H'mm, maybe I will draw up a board for it if & when I've nothing better to do.

Is there an Ankh-Morpork one? I feel there should be...

'Ankh-Morpork Monopoly'? H'mm...

'Guildhouses' (Thieves, Assassins, Fools, & ?) instead of 'Railway Stations'?

A 'Community Chest' card: "You commission a project from Bloody Stupid Johnson. Pay £(100x1d6). Move 1d6 squares forwards, then 1d6 squares back again."
A 'Chance' card: "You annoy Mustrum Ridcully. Become a pumpkin and miss three turns."
