Pub lunch?

To help my mom (Andrea for those of you who are still confused as to who I am) get over her fit of the sulks, we thought it might be nice if anyone is interested, to arrange a get together at a really nice Real Ale pub 2 minutes walk from the Chapeltown train station in Sheffield, if people are interested.

If people want to come, it'll be at the Commercial Pub in Chapeltown, this Saturday (June 7th) from 12 o'clock midday.

If you want to come, let us know & if there's a large group of us, we'll book a table.

They do lovely meals, they have a good garden & a wide range of beers.

If you're lucky we may even stretch to directions :)

Gosh, Chapeltown, that's a bit of a trek. Even further for Sarah, she lives in Hackenthorpe.
I'd love to meet you both so shall look into travel arrangements and let you know.

Chapeltown from where?

It's nothing of a trek for me *grin*

It's easy to get to from most places :)

Fear not - it looks like we may actually have David and his car this time! It's not 100% definite yet, but I shall let you know asap.

Does the Commercial sell any ciders worth drinking ? ie: nothing you've ever seen advertized on TV

I think so.. Not being a cider drinker, I wouldn't know :) I think they do cider though. I've never seen any 'popular' ciders though...

I would imagine they do decent ciders. They definitely do decent ales at least...

Not to be confused with 'I Am A Camra', a little-known work by Christopher Isherwood in which Sally Bowles trolls the bars of Weimar Berlin looking for the perfect weissbeer. The musical version featured such classic numbers as 'Lager (Makes The World Spin Round)', with its famous chorus of 'lagerlagerlagerlagerlager', 'Mein Beer', and 'That Pint Belongs To Me'. The show was described as 'hoppy, with raspberry overtones, and a rather bitter finish.'

For anyone planning to come tomorrow, contact me via e-mail and we'lll arrange to meet.

Those coming from Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley, Wakefield, Huddersfield etc. the quickest route (unless you have a car) is by train, you need the Barnsley line, we'll meet you off the train.

Busses are fairly simple but take twice as long, we can meet off those too.

if you come by car, we are just off the M1 Junc 35, take the turning for Chapeltown then follow the road to the roundabout (don't be tempted to turn off as the road curves, just keep following) at the roundabout turn right and drive till you see new houses on the left and the Commercial on the right, you can park at the back. (If you start going up hill you've missed it)

whichever way you come contact me for a phone number in case you get lost (which you won't but I'm a belt and braces person)

we will be easy to find, we will be the mad folk with the elephant/tigger cross (possibly mammoth in training) called Kaiser and his 6'6 dad

Skiffle - a lift is now definitely available if you would like it; pick-up time to be posted this evening when David has checked the map.
