H'mm... could you convince your boss you need to do some kind of fieldwork? Just a thought!

We don't do fieldwork. You're thinking of farmers.

Hi

I know i don't post very often but I would still like to meet those of you going to the Leeds event. Leeds is just over an hour away for me by car, so shouldn't be too difficult to arrange.

Hmm, typical, last time Jasper was down here in Exeter I was up in Leeds visiting my girlfriend. And on the 16th she's coming all the way down from Leeds to (hopefully) watch me graduate, nevermind, one of these day's I'll get to see then man himself...

[Edit: oo, just noticed a date in Gloucester, should be able to make that one, yay!]

So is it just me and Aunt Sassy in the Foyles event?

Right. Spoken to a nice man down at Waterstones. They haven't got tickets or fliers sorted yet and he said there wouldn't be a problem. "You've got ages yet mate" He reckoned the day before, and probably on the day, would be fine for tickets. I don't know if he'd bargained on us lot turning up en mass.

I'd still prefer to eat after. I know it's late but, beforehand would be early (for me anyway) and that way people who are travelling (from Oldham for example) get to join us.

Jon: I'm was also intending to invite Jasper.

Fuzz: We're also graduating up in Leeds that week. If anyone's really bored they could get a glimpse of me poncing round in a colourful gown trying to impress students, their parents and our industrial sponsors. It's great fun. They love it !

Sara: You're more than welcome.

There's a coffee bar in that Waterstones (previous events I've been to have been in the coffee bar area) so that would be a good place to meet. (Although there are various pubs between the university and town so I could well get waylaid !)

Note to self--work on developing teleport skills with a sufficient range to reach across the Atlantic to Leeds, before July 16th.

Plan B: purchase lottery tickets, win enormous sum of money, fly over on Concorde before they shut it down.

Seriously though, if I found a @#$%& flight to London someday, I wonder how cheaply I could tour England if I imposed on various Fforumites with spare rooms.....

You could just build a very long bridge or very deep tunnel ?

I'd like to go to the London one and the Leeds one. The London one depends on family and finances. The leeds one should be ok, If we catch the last train back Sarah and Skiffle you can stop at mine overnight if you want, which might make it easier if there is no lift as I'm just by one of the Leeds lines.

Thanks for that, Andrea! I think David will be joining the party, but I'm not 100% certain at this stage.

That might help, Andrea. My reservation about eating afterwards isabout the time of the last train back from Leeds. Though if Dave does join us, that won't matter.
(Sarah - what's good for bribing Daves ?)

You could always post rapturous comments on the "Nextarillion". ;-)

Chocolate also works quite well!

Am I that obvious? (I know I am!)

I would rather go by train myself, subject to a last departure that's reliable. Driving cars round unfamiliar cities only gets them damaged and is far more trouble to do than non drivers realise.

My problem is the extreme nature of the situation with my ex wife who sees our children as bargaining chips, and the need to keep a record of taking them whenever she effectively abandons then in case of future proceedings.

Yes it's nuts, but Sarah will verify the truth of it!

well I have put up 20+ people in my home, Dell, Anna and Roy want to come too, Mist might also :-) so we'll need a very very large car, but between us we have spare beds all over so no one need sleep on a floor.

Dear Jon: you're the wizard who knows all about trains. Can you find the likely times back from Leeds-Sheffield for us, pretty please ?

*Tries to remember whether Jon bribes with chocolate and feels certain that booze is good*

a sheffield - leeds return costs = £6.10 (@#$%& if you have a pass)

there's one going at 17:35 that doesn't go past me and gets in at 18:17 and one at 17:09 gets in at 18:31 and does go past me both give time to get to the shop

returning there are trains about 10:20pm, which we will probably catch

there are others later is needed but most involve changes if you are coming to mine. one at 23:15 gets into Sheffield at 00:32

I haven't got a copy of the new timetables because of being off sick for so long, it's a lot easier with them than stupig websites

Skiffle: Jon does bribe with chocolate, but if you remember he is currently in Wales!

Actually, is there anyone on this Fforum who _doesn't_ bribe with chocolate, other than PSD?
