Thought I'd start a new topic to talk about Fforumites so 'Meet the Fforum...' can stick to the questionnaire. (The threads getting long enough as it is.)

I'm just interested to know why AAC thought me and Dave may be related...
You can choose your friends but not your family. Hence I have lots in common with my friends.

Rob, I totally agree with you on that last comment...
Pity parents don't see it that way and think siblings must be the best of friends ;-)

Can I just (on behalf of all fforumites, I'm sure) offer condolence to Ria on the loss of her brother, and bid her welcome to the fforum. I believe a Miss T E Next might have some idea how she feels, but the rest of us can only offer sympathy.

Deepest sympathies to Ria, I was very glad when my wee bro came out of the forces and I didn't have to watch the world news with such personal interest.

Hi to all the new people in the Meet.. thread that I haven't said hi to before. And my sympathies also to Ria on the loss of your brother.

To return to my little world of trivialities, I can't help but notice that the fforumites seem to have a lot of glasses wearing people, I didn't put in mine that I also wear glasses. So is this an example of the old wives tale about the effects of lots of reading on eyesight? I didn't know I was short-sighted for a long time until I got a lot of headaches from squinting at the blackboard in school, and then had to adapt to NHS glasses.

Thank you - It's still very raw for us - he was on his way home.
But, we know there is a purpose for everything, you know? We're devout Christians, so we know he's Ok now. Plus, there is his little girl to keep us going.

It is awful to watch the news! I hated it even before his accident. He was with the 1st division of the Marines, so he saw a lot. My younger brother is just out of the Army - he was discharged in May of last year, so he missed all this. We're all gov't workers here in my family - I work for the VA taking care of our little vets.

I've been hanging around here HOPING to find out what's going on in WOLP since we can't get it here yet. I'm awful about that sort of thing. I read the last 100 pgs of HP (are we not allowed to say it here?) before I started it.

I found a place on the US amazon where you can order WOLP, but it's going to cost you about $50. I'm also looking on Ebay.....

Ria - welcome and condolences. If you really want a spoiler for WOLP I'm happy to write you one, if you email me - but I'm not going to put one up on the fforum for obvious reasons.

Feel free to mention Potter by name - it's T** H*^& we don't mention...

Ria: welcome and condolences. I lost a very close friend seven years ago who might just as well have been a brother, and although I, too, knew that he was OK now (no more epilepsy!), it still hurt badly. I know how it feels.

Welcome also to the other newcomers who have recently surfaced; sorry not to mention you all by name, but I'm checking the Fforum in something of a hurry before returning to work. I do some strange hours.

Ria: welcome also. My eldest brother was in the British Armed Forces for many years and did a thankfully short tour of duty in Northern Ireland in the late 80's. Nothing bad happened to him, but his wife hated the atmosphere there so much, she left after a few months and lived in England. You can imagine how glad we were when Geoff returned to England too.

Rob, I thought you and Dave might be related since your middle name is Graham...thought it might be your mother's maiden name and were, therefore, Dave's cousin or something.

Just being a detective!

Ria: my sincerest condolences. But I would like to wish you a very hearty welcome to the Fforum. It's a fun place...completely mad, but fun, nonetheless!

To everyone else: My apologies for this insane questionnaire! I only sent it to a couple of people because I don't believe in mass mailing, but I think it's cool all of you are answering it! Perhaps I should too...oh maybe later!

If you want to shoot someone for prolonging the torture, blame PSD, he's the one who posted it! LOL

PS, by "Pants" it's meant as trousers!

Difference between a man and a dog? The man wears trousers, the dog just pants...

Hello to all that I haven't greeted before, and to those I have! Welcome to Ria, and you have my sympathy too.
